Purse Thieves Target Cary Shopping Center

Cary Suspects

Police believe two men are responsible for a string of purse and wallet thefts at six Cary businesses.

Authorities believe the men, reportedly in their late teens to early 20s, are targeting employee belongings after reports of thefts in employee break rooms at six businesses in the Cary Crossroads shopping center -- A.C. Moore, Dick's Sporting Goods, PetsMART, Pier 1 Imports, Cost Plus World Market and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Police say the men have used stolen credit cards to buy items, such as American Express gift cards, and, since early October, have made about $3,000 in purchases.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact the Cary Police Department at

(919) 469-4017

or CrimeStoppers at

. A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspects' arrests.
