FAYETTEVILLE — The driver of a Chevy Corsica was placed on $1,000 unsecured bond Tuesday, after being charged with the death of a Fayetteville cyclist.
Jose R. Lopez was charged with failure to decrease speed as necessary to avoid colliding with another vehicle and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after striking 55-year-old Robert Lee China.
China was riding his bike around 9:15 a.m. on Hillsboro Street when he was hit near the intersection of Boundary Lane.
Lopez is scheduled to be in court for the charges on May 12, 1998.
