A pesky stump dump fire in Johnston County that started in February has been almost completely put out.
Johnston County officials said the smoldering fire is about 98 percent extinguished. The blaze burned for more than two weeks before firefighters figured out how to douse it completely.
A farming irrigation system installed two weeks ago appears to be working.
