Wake Schools Face Changes

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — After months of studies, complaints and suggestions, the Wake County school reassignments are in place for next year.

Nearly 3,600 students will be shuffled to different schools next year, and Davis Drive Elementary will be capped, including the Kindergarten starting next year.

Seventh and eighth graders will be able to remain in their current schools if parents provide transportation.

Several parents are upset because the Swift Creek neighborhood will be split.

Parent Audrey Brake, "We're just frustrated because we had no input into the plan while its being devised, and only get to react after to it the changes are made."

The school board said that some transfers will be considered.
