Oxford, N.C. — Police are investigating the discovery of possible human remains behind an Oxford children’s home Sunday afternoon.
According to Oxford police officials, a man and his dog were walking through the woods behind the Masonic Children’s Home at 600 College Street and found a skull appearing to be that of a human adult and other remains along a creek.
Police officials said there are several missing persons’ reports that might be linked to the remains, but they have not made a positive identification.
Investigators with the State Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab are due to arrive at the scene Monday morning to attempt to find the rest of the remains. Crime dogs are also expected to search the area.
