Cary, N.C. — Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward went bald Friday evening for the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Ward, who was the National Hockey League's 2006 MVP, led the way for more than three dozen people who volunteered to shave their heads to show their support for children undergoing chemotherapy.
The event took place at the Hibernian Restaurant and Pub in Cary and was cheered on by a crowd of friends, family and children touched by cancer.
James Goodnight Jr. and three dozen others will also face the clippers at Hibernian at 1 p.m. Saturday.
St. Baldrick's, an organization in 10 countries and 42 U.S. states, has raised more than $20 million and has shaved more than 26,000 heads.
