Canes' Cam Ward Goes Bald for Cancer Research
Canes' Cam Ward Goes Bald for Cancer Research

Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward went bald Friday evening for the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Ward, who was the National Hockey League's 2006 MVP, led the way for more than three dozen people who volunteered to shave their heads to show their support for children undergoing chemotherapy.

The event took place at the Hibernian Restaurant and Pub in Cary and was cheered on by a crowd of friends, family and children touched by cancer.

James Goodnight Jr. and three dozen others will also face the clippers at Hibernian at 1 p.m. Saturday.

St. Baldrick's, an organization in 10 countries and 42 U.S. states, has raised more than $20 million and has shaved more than 26,000 heads.

As a mother of an 11 year old with cancer, I say THANK YOU to everyone who helps this cause! I know what a hard time my son had dealing with the loss of his hair. Someone in the spotlight, like Cam, doing this will maybe make it easier.

Yea!! What a worthy cause. On St Paticks day in Pinehurst a group of Firefighters & friends (Moore Fools)including 3 children, 2 of them 10 year old girls raised approximately $12,000 for St Baldricks. So much fun to witness and cheer on the group. Hope this encourages others. If you want to read more, go to the St Baldricks website.

Good heart in you, Cam. Thanks for sharing some Light.

Thanks Cam for being a good sport and role model for the kids !
