Raleigh, N.C. — About 2,700 state workers received an e-mail Wednesday saying their personal information was accidentally posted on the Internet.
The mistake went un-noticed for almost two months.
A spokeswoman for the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources said someone accidentally posted employees' names and Social Security numbers in a file that was on a public access server.
The information was removed from public access on Monday.
