Fayetteville, N.C. — Authorities are trying to determine what caused an accident in which a piece of equipment rolled over a person.
Michael Wayne Pegram, 24, of Fayetteville, was operating a backhoe at C.J. Pegram Sand and Gravel Co. at 2503 Wilmington Highway when it slid down an embankment and flipped over him.
He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition Wednesday night.
Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were called in to make sure there were no violations.
