GOLDSBORO — One woman is dead, the victim of a head-on collision in Wayne County. The accident happened Friday evening on Highway 70, five miles east of Goldsboro.
Shawnal Tameeka Collins, 22, was killed. Her 4 and 5-year-old niece and nephew were hospitalized. The man, who was driving west in the eastbound lane, was also injured.
Highway Patrol officers suspect alcohol played a part in the accident. Both cars were traveling at about 55 miles per hour when they collided.
Charges are pending in the case. The children's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
