Teen Sentenced to Prison in Fellow Student's Death

A Goldsboro teen was sentenced to 13 months in prison after pleading guilty to shooting another teen last May.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro teen was sentenced to 13 months in prison after pleading guilty to shooting another teen last May.

Timothy W. Alston, 18, of White Oak Road, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of John Paul Setliff.

Setliff, 17, of Freemont, was shot while sitting in a vehicle and later died at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Four teens were in the car when a handgun was fired, authorities said. Investigators said alcohol and drugs were involved inthe incident.

Alston and Setliff were both students at C.B. Aycock High School.
