LUMBERTON — It's not cold weather but water that's forcing some people from their homes along the Lumber River. More evacuations are expected when the Lumber River crests today.
Waters were still rising as of Noon Wednesday. Many low-lying areas had been taken over, as well as cars and some homes. Residents near the Lumber River have had to deal with repeated incidents of flooding since the new year. A number of residents have also been forced to seek federal emergency management assistance.
WRAL and WRAL OnLine will have more extensive coverage of the flooding situation later in the Wednesday evening newscasts.
