Henderson Officer Shoots Suspect During Traffic Stop

— In Henderson Wednesday, a police officer shot a suspect during a routine traffic stop. Police say the officer pulled over 29-year-old Tony Jones near Yancey Lane.

After a scuffle, they say the officer shot Jones with his service revolver. Jones is in critical condition at North Carolina Memorial hospital in Chapel Hill.

The officer suffered a broken nose. The State Bureau of Investigation and the Henderson Police Department are investigating the shooting.
