ROCKY MOUNT — Rosie Vines, 29, and her 6-year-old son, Brandon, disappeared in January; boaters found her body in the Tar River two days ago. On Tuesday, authorities found the body of the young boy near the Tar River Bridge.
Police say the two had been staying with a relative in town before they vanished. The family is trying to cope with the tragedy of the two deaths.
The medical examiner's investigation continues, but Dr. Robert Zipf does know a few things for certain about Rosie Vine's death.
How she and Brandon ended up dead in the Tar River is still a mystery. The medical examiner says high water and swift currents in the past month could have carried her body a long way from its origin.
John Vines says he has his own ideas as to what might have happened to his sister.
Police are hoping someone will come forward with information that will help them with this case.
