One Killed, Three Injured in Johnston County Collision

Smithfield, N.C. — Troopers believe the weather played a role in a fatal crash in Johnston County.

A speeding car hydroplaned on Brogden Road east of Smithfield Friday afternoon and hit another car in oncoming traffic.

A woman riding in the car that was hit died, while two others were critically injured. A passenger in the speeding car suffered head injuries.

Investigators said charges are pending in the collision.

My dad knew the family that was hit and it is a sad situation. The man in the accident lost his mother in this and he is in very critical condition right now. His wife is not as bad off, but she still needs prayers. Please be praying for the family of both right now.

This brings back bad memories. I lost a good friend in that same area back in 1981. The road is really flat in some curves and holds puddles of water. She hit one and overturned in a ditch.
