— A 24-year-old man died Thursday morning after being shot outside a Kinston apartment complex late Wednesday, police said.

Police responded to a report of shots fired outside 7-D Carver Courts at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and found Kenneth Cannon suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Witnesses said Cannon was standing outside with several other people when a man approached the group and fired about 10 shots, police said. No one else was wounded in the incident, police said.

Cannon was transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital and airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He died Thursday morning.

The shooting remains under investigation.

I am from Kinston and there are alot of good people who live in the area where this man was shot. There are also probably twice as many trouble makers (drug dealers, hoodlums, gangs, thugs, etc.). The Kinston police department can't do it all on their own, they didn't give the suspect the gun and tell him to go shoot someone. Wake up and take responsibility for your actions.

In case none wants to say this I will...what were they doind outside standing around for...better why were the suspects firing at the victim in the first place. Drug dealers fighting for turf? Fighting over the all inclusive debate over the basketball tournament? I know they were discussing religeon and the uniforms in school policies.
KPD wake up? How about society WAKE UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR COMMUNITY!!! POLICE CAN NOT DO IT ALL.

They were all probably standing around discussing what went on at Bible Study when this happened.

Question, how could it be the fault of the police department.
