Soldier Facing Rape Charge in N.C. Faces Similar Charges in Ga.

A soldier accused in a series of assaults in Spring Lake faces more charges.

FORT BENNING — A soldier accused of assaulting and raping a woman on Fort Benning in February could face a court martial.

Military officials said Spc. Menkaura Moss, 21, of Virginia Beach, Va., who is assigned to the 108th Military Police Company at Fort Bragg, has also been accused of committing forcible sodomy, assault, assault with intent to commit rape and communicating a threat to kill the woman.

Moss also faces rape charges in Spring Lake where police say he attacked three women at an apartment complex.

Moss arrived at Fort Benning Feb. 16 to attend airborne school. He would have graduated from the course on March 9.

Moss has been assigned a military defense counsel to represent him at any future court procedures.
