WRAL Habitat House Dedicated in Durham

e-mail print friendly

There are many gifts to receive on Valentine's Day -- candy, cards, and flowers. But, April Gilmore and her children, Brittany and Paris, have something greater. They have a brand new home this weekend.

WRAL-TV5 and Goldston's Building Supply teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Durham County to build April's Home. With the help of Americorp volunteers, the home was completed on a "blitz-build" schedule of just two weeks. April has lots of folks to thank.

The investment in April and her family represents a community working together, building homes, and touching lives, according to Habitat's Executive Director Bob Calhoun.

April worked alongside the volunteers who helped her. She intends to continue helping Habitat for Humanity, spreading joy to other future owners. But for now, April is making plans for her own home.

Another family will be moving into their new home Sunday in Fayetteville. That's when WRAL's second Habitat House will be dedicated.

April Gilmore, from all of us at WRAL-TV5, welcome home.
