Additional Precautions Added to I-95

Posted Updated

LUMBERTON — Construction along a stretch of I-95 in Robeson County has proved especially dangerous -- and, in several cases, fatal. The North Carolina Department of Transportation is continuing to add precautions along the roadway.

This week, reflectors will be added and "rumble strips" will be installed on the pavement to warn motorists. The strips are placed in the center of a lane to warn of construction ahead.

Last week, the D-O-T moved concrete barriers and reduced the speed limit through the area.

I-95 is a heavily traveled road, bearing much of the traffic between New York and Florida.
