According to post officials, the chopper was undergoing a maintenance operation check when the accident occured. The helicopter was still on the ground at the time.
The scene is off-limits to the media, as officials begin their investigation. Fort Bragg authorities are tight-lipped about the incident. They are not even disclosing information about what happened during the accident.
Last yearin July a Blackhawk went downduring a training exercise and killed eight soldiers. Army investigators say "human error" caused that fiery crash. They found no evidence of mechanical problems.
Saturday's fatality was the second on post this week. Another Ft. Braggsoldier died Wednesdaywhen the parachute he was using failed to open during a massive parachute jump.
Saturday's accident was not connected to the highly-publicized Operation Purple Dragon exercises, going on this weekend at Bragg.
An investigation into Saturday's accident is underway. The name of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of relatives.
The two unidentified, injured soldiers were taken to Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg. One of those soldiers was transported to Cape Fear Valley Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. The soldier still at Womack is in stable condition.
Officials say that it could be next week before any information is available about the accident.
