Controlled Burn Causes Concern for Some Durham Residents

e-mail print friendly

Smoke from a controlled burn in Granville County is blowing as far as northern Durham, but residents should not be concerned, Durham County emergency officials said Friday.

The fire started at about 8 a.m. Friday at Cheek and Old Weaver roads in Creedmoor, and is expected to last until about 4 p.m.

Durham 911 officials said they had received a number of calls from residents in the Redwood area and that the local fire department was aware of the burn.

No one should be concerned, 911 officials said, unless they actually see flames or something burning.
