Raleigh Church Fire Considered Suspicious
Investigators said Friday that an early morning fire at a church in downtown Raleigh is considered suspicious.

The fire started at about 4:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church at the corner of South Wilmington and East Morgan streets.
Investigators said the fire started in the foyer near a side door. The door and the wood around the door were the only things damaged.
The fire occurred in an area that wouldn't affect services at the church, officials said.
Assistant Raleigh Fire Chief Larry Stanford said samples taken from the damaged area aren't consistent with an accidental fire. Authorities don't have any suspects in the fire, he said.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Raleigh police.
