FAYETTEVILLE — An accident on Highway 401 near Elliot Bridge Road in Cumberland County, has left one woman dead and a man injured. The one-vehicle crash occurred early Tuesday afternoon.
The names of the victims, who were traveling in the same vehicle, have not been released, pending notification of relatives.
Troopers say the weather and speed were factors in the accident. The vehicle carrying the two victims veered off the road and crashed without involving any other vehicles.
The injured man was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where his is listed in serious condition.
