Cumberland County authorities say a missing Hope Mills man returned home safely Wednesday night.

Authorities said Luther "Tony" Russell told his manager at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday that he was not feeling well and was going to Duke Hospital. According to police, Russell called a deacon at his church to say he had been injured in an accident and his car was stuck in a ditch between two trees.

Russell's family contacted authorities Wednesday night and notified them that he had returned home.

Investigators said the family would not release any additional information of Russell's whereabouts.

My opinion makes as much sence as the dribble that came after my comment !

What are you smoking georgewilson??

What a waste! All those police officers searching for this human debris when nothing was wrong to begin with.

As for George Wilson, it is sad to think that people like you are still able to roam the streets freely. There is no room for that kind of foolishness. Everyone has a right to free speech, but who wants to hear your backwards, archaic thinking? If you could call that thinking!

I don't think it was a bogus police report. His family really believed he was missing.
