Diesel Fuel Costs For Wake School Buses Continue To Add Up

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County school system says it is shelling out more than $1 million in fuel costs.

The average price for diesel fuel in the Triangle is $2.55 a gallon, which is about 36 cents higher than the average cost of unleaded gasoline.

Oil companies say high demand for gasoline and heating oil reduced diesel production.

With increased demand and a tightening supply, economists say the price will continue to go up.
