  • Paul Berkley, 46, and his wife, Monique Berkley, 26, of Clayton, were shot while on a pathway in Millbrook Exchange Park shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, according to authorities.

Police arrested Monique Berkley on Monday while she was still in her hospital gown and charged with one count of murder.

Andrew Deshawn Canty and Latwon Darrell Johnson, both 18, were arrested Sunday and were each charged with one count of first-degree murder.

Paul Berkley, a reservist who just returned from the Middle East on Thursday, died at WakeMed after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.

    In his

    personal blog

, Paul Berkley wrote about how happy he was to be home from the Middle East and to be able to spend time with his children.

Those who knew the Berkleys told WRAL that Monique Berkley knew Canty and was romantically involved with him. They also said that Johnson had a relationship with Paul Berkley's daughter, Rebecca. Neighbors said the two men were always at the Berkley home in Clayton while Paul Berkley was out of the country.

All three suspects are being held without bond in the Wake County Jail. Police say the investigation continues and more charges could follow.
