Snow Possible Sunday Morning, Forecasters Say

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Triangle could be in store for its second brush with winter weather within a week.

Forecasters say that there is a chance of snow early Sunday morning until around noon in the Raleigh area.

The National Weather Service said that there is a 50 percent chance of precipitation after midnight Sunday, when lows are forecast to be near 30 degrees.

On Sunday, there is a chance of rain and snow, with highs just above 40.

To the north and west of Raleigh is where snow is more likely. In the Triangle wet snow and sleet is possible, said WRAL meteorologist Greg Fishel.

"The vision I have for the Triangle area is a little bit of tinting on the grass -- a little bit of accumulation there (with) the roads remaining wet and that means little impact on travel Saturday night and Sunday morning," Fishel said.

The chance of precipitation on Sunday is 50 percent, the weather service said.

On Thursday morning, some Western areas of the Triangle got some freezing rain that contributed to several wrecks.
