Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Four suspects are in custody in Durham following two shootings and a 20-minute car chase.

According to Durham police, the incident started when shots were fired at a group of girls on Charles Street at 3:30 p.m.

About 15 minutes later, police received a call that someone was shot multiple times, including in the head, on Keystone Place. The description of the car matched that of the car that fled the first shooting scene. The name of the shooting victim had not been released late Wednesday.

Durham Police Officer T.A. Stewart spotted the suspect's SUV on the east end of Durham.

At least 10 police cars chased the suspect's vehicle near Duke University. The chase ended near the Durham Freeway near Alston Avenue. The chase, which reached speeds of 75 mph, lasted about 20 minutes.

No one was hurt during the chase, but two patrol cars sustained minor damage.
