Wintry Mix Possible For Western Triangle Wednesday Night

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Western parts of the Triangle will possibly see a mix of rain, snow and freezing rain Wednesday night and into Thursday, according to weather forecasters.

The National Weather Service said that the Chapel Hill and Roxboro areas would get rain mixed with snow Wednesday night with freezing rain likely after midnight. Occasional freezing rain is possible Thursday morning.

With lows around 30, some light ice accumulation is possible, mainly on elevated surfaces, the weather searvice said.

Slightly further east -- in the cities of Durham and Raleigh -- there is a chance of brief freezing rain, but the weather service did not say it was likely. No snow was mentioned for eastern areas.

The highs on Thursday will be in the mid-30s, forecasters said.
