RALEIGH, N.C. — A Michigan woman was killed six years ago, and it now appears police are closer to making an arrest.
Sources say police have handed over the case of Rebecca Huismann to the County Prosecutor's Office in Lansing, Mich.
Detectives recommend an open murder charge against Drew Planten. Planten is also charged with murder in the death of Stephanie Bennett in Raleigh.
Huismann was shot in her Lansing driveway in 1999. Her case remained a mystery until Raleigh police found information and a gun connected to her slaying in Planten's Raleigh apartment.
