School Board Committee Approves Cumberland County Reassignment Plan
Posted December 7, 2005
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One of North Carolina's largest school systems is one step closer to reassigning almost 1,000 students next year.
A Cumberland County school board committee voted Tuesday to shift students away from some of the school system's fastest growing schools.
For example, under school administrators' proposal, 300 students at Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville would be moved to either Douglas Byrd High School or Seventy-First High School. (

The full board of education expects to vote on the plan next week.
