Durham Murder Investigation

Durham police found a 62-year-old man stabbed to death Friday afternoon, but officials believe he may have been dead for several days.

Officers were dispatched to a cardiac arrest call at a rooming house at 809 Park Ave. around 2:30 p.m. on Friday. When they arrived, they found David Clifford Cates dead in his room.

No motive has been determined and no charges have been filed at this time, according to police.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Sgt. J.N. Cates or Investigator A. Gill at (919) 560-4440 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

Hey, what a great idea. Let's make jokes about a town after someone's been stabbed! Yeah, that's a great idea!

And from a "mom2threec[hi]ld[ren]" no less. How touching. I'm sure you wouldn't *dream* of letting your kids out of their (doubtlessly non-diverse, suburban hellhole of a) subdivision to see a real city, would you?

Those of us who are proud to live here, chose to live here because it is a wonderful place to live. Sure, it has crime, but the answer to crime isn't escaping to some Super Wal-Mart developer's fantasyland. It's about recognizing places with real history and beauty, and working to make them better.

I am sorry to hear about this loss of life and hope the authorities have some answers soon.

hehehehehehehe good one durham suckz.........

I am sure that this was just an isolated incident. Durham is not normally known for this kind of crime.
