The Raleigh Police Department said the ambulance, from Tri-Star Medical Transport, was traveling westbound on the outer Beltline when a vehicle merging onto the Beltline from Western Boulevard collided with the ambulance's left side.
According to the police report, the driver of the vehicle, Rachel Iversen, 18, of Raleigh, was traveling too fast for the wet road conditions, slid into the ambulance and caused it to run off the roadway. The ambulance then hit a guardrail, rolled over and overturned down a nearby embankment.
The ambulance's driver, Melissa Liming, 28, of Raleigh, is in fair condition at WakeMed.
There were no patients in the back of the ambulance.
Police have not said what, if any, charges would be filed against Iverson.
