Seventh Rabies Case Reported In Cumberland County

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Saturday morning the state public health lab in Raleigh confirmed the seventh case of rabies in Cumberland County this year.

A rabid raccoon bit a family dog. The dog was up to date on rabies shots.

The raccoon was picked up by Animal Control from 9266 Durant Nixon Road on Wednesday Nov. 23.

Residents in the vicinity of the 9000 block of Durant Nixon Road in Linden should remain alert for sick or abnormal acting wildlife.

Cumberland County animal control officials will be in the vicinity to alert residents of the incident.
