Man Charged In Fayetteville Double Shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man faces two counts of attempted murder in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville police officers responded to a call in reference to an individual who had been shot at 312 McIver Street. When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old Lee Vester Gadson with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

Authorities say Phillip Watson, 32, was shot in the chest. He was transported to the hospital before officers were contacted. He is listed in stable condition.

Authorities have charged 49-year-old Luther Whittington with both shootings. He is in jail on bond.
