Search warrants released Wednesday show that one of two men charged with murder in connection with the death of a Raleigh woman confessed to police.

Police arrested three suspects in connection with the death of 22-year-old Lauren Redman: Byron Waring, 19; Joseph Sanderlin, 24 -- both charged with murder -- and George Sasser, 25, who was charged with accessory to murder after the fact.

According to the warrant, Waring told detectives that Sanderlin raped Redman, then they both stabbed her to death. Authorities, however, have not yet charged Sanderlin with rape.

Redman died outside her West Raleigh apartment at 3010 North Walnut Creek Parkway in the early-morning hours of Nov. 8. When a neighbor found her and called 911, authorities said Redman was still alive, but she died at the scene.

Other warrants show that police searched Waring's apartment and seized two knives, clothes and more than a dozen pairs of shoes.

From Redman's apartment, officers recovered blood samples and took away drug paraphernalia and three steak knives from the victim's kitchen.

Waring and Sanderlin are in the Wake County Jail without bond; Sasser, who authorities said advised the other two suspects to leave town, is in jail under a $500,000 bond.
