ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A Mebane man convicted of shooting his 10-year-old daughter to death and then setting his house on fire was sentenced Friday to life in prison.
Rufus Bishop faced the death penalty for the murder of his daughter in May 2004.
He said he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time and shot his daughter by accident.
He said he did not know how the fire started.
