RALEIGH, N.C. — A driver who fell asleep while driving early Thursday morning and crashed his Ford Probe into a credit union building will not face charges.

Shortly after 5 a.m., Raleigh police said William Edward Taylor Jr., 25, was traveling west on Centennial Parkway when he fell asleep, crossed the median, overcorrected and then struck a lamppost.

Police said Taylor then drove into the State Employee's Credit Union, located at the intersection of Centennial Parkway and Nazareth Street.

Taylor was transported to Rex Hospital after complaining of neck and shoulder pain.

No one was in the building at the time of the accident and there were no other injuries, police said.
