Children OK After Propane Truck Hits School Bus

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — No students were seriously injured Wednesday morning when a propane truck hit the back end of a school bus in Orange County, the North Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened shortly before 8 a.m. on
Phelps Road near Highway 86
, north of Hillsborough. The driver of the propane truck, Artis E. Summey, was charged with failure to reduce speed.
Some of the children on the bus, which was on its way to Pathway Elementary School in Hillsborough, had bumps and bruises.
Summey complained of slight neck injuries and was treated at the accident scene and then taken to Duke University Hospital for a minor injury.
The students were transported to school on another bus.
