WILSON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Wilson County are investigating an incident that led to shots being fired into a house.

Around midnight, Wilson County sheriff deputies were called to investigate the shooting at a house on Iroquois Road. On their way to the shooting, they saw a person standing in a field off U.S. Highway 301 near Weaver Road. Authorities later learned that person was involved in the shooting.

According to authorities, a second person, who was armed with a handgun, was located in a nearby wooded area.

When authorities arrived at the house, they found the home had been shot with multiple rounds from a AK-47 assault rifle. Three other vehicles were also shot. Deputies say the residents who were inside the home returned fire during the time their house was being shot at.
