Jury Selection Begins In Trial Of Driver In Fatal Chase That Killed Two

Posted Updated

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Jury selection began Monday in the murder trial of a Harnett County man accused of killing a woman and her daughter during an alleged bank robbery attempt in August 2004.

Investigators say Roame Jackson was driving the getaway car in the alleged robbery and collided with Wanda Knox's car at an intersection on Highways 401 and 421 in Harnett County. Knox and her 17-year-old daughter, Shannon, were killed.

Five people are charged in the accident. Jackson is the first to go on trial.

In August, the judge in the case changed the trial's venue to Lee County because the site of the accident happened across the street from the Harnett County Courthouse.
