GOLDSBORO — A Goldsboro couple hit by Hurricane Floyd is ready to move into their new home, but this is no ordinary rebuilding story, and they are not your average couple.
John Headen is 103 years old. His wife, Mary, is 96. The couple had lived in their home for 65 years when Floyd hit. Even with a century of treasured memories, Headen says the hurricane takes the prize.
"In this one, water was everywhere. I'm telling you I ain't never seen that much water, not around Goldsboro," John says.
The couple is one of the first in Goldsboro to take advantage of the buyout. They hope to move into their new home by April.
