Missing Woman's Body Found in Eno River

Posted February 24, 2007

— A missing person’s case at the Eno River State Park took a tragic turn Saturday, as a 19-year-old Durham woman’s body was recovered.

Search crews with dogs scoured the woods for the woman for several hours. Her parents called police when she didn't come Friday night.

After several hours, a dive team discovered her body in the river. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation, but no foul play is suspected.

Just thinking of my own & only daughter age 20.
Nobody is going swimming in NC at this timme of

I agree with the 1st comment. I know Mariam personally. We both went to Riverside High together and she is not the type of person who would go swimming alone in the eno. I dont know what really happened to her but she will never be forgotten and my prayers are with her family and the rest of her friends and classmates. WE LOVE U GIRL!!!

Somehow I don't think she decided to go swimming on Friday.
