DMV Found Guilty of Racial Discrimination

e-mail print friendly
After a five year court battle, a Superior Court judge ruled this week that the Division of Motor Vehicles is guilty of racial discrimination.

Bennie Corbett, who is black, says he was forced out his job after announcing he wanted to run for sheriff of Pender County.

In court filings, Corbett was told to either quit or drop out of the race, because it violated federal laws.

The final ruling against the DMV means Corbett will get his job back and get back pay. The state must also pay his legal fees.

jpinzon, my point is people use the words to hurt or insult for their own satisfaction. You will be surprised at the reaction you get from people when you simply agree and move on. I coach football and baseball at a middle school. I have parents calling me things all the time. It's actually funny sometimes to see their reaction when you agree with them and move on. They are so disappointed when you don't get angry. I had a mother call me a *********** one day, I agreed and started walking off. Her face turned red and she followed me to the parking lot, screaming the whole time. I was laughing and the more I laughed the madder she got. It was funny to me.

jpinzon, just a thought. I guess that you are proud of who you are, and you are stable with what you are. Are you a spic or do you think negatively about spics? My guess is NO so why should it bother you. Are you a Mexican or do you think of them negatively, my guess is NO so why should being called one be upsetting? People call me many things, some of them are true and some are not. I am proud of who I am regardless of what they think and I know what I am regardless of what they call me. I am a "cracker", "honkey", "whitey", "redneck" but that's what I am so if someone has a problem with it's not me.

My point is, for an insult to work the reciepiant of the insult must allow themselves to be insulted. If you simply just walk away or agree and be happy with who you are, you win.

DMV is mostly black. How is it racism?

I thought they asked him to leave because he was going to run for sheriff not because he was black. Someone please clarify for me.

Once again people are reacting to an incomplete story. It doesn't say why this was racisim. We could guess all day long. WRAL please post the specifics of the case. Thanks
