Raleigh police arrested a teenager on Wednesday in connection to the death of a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week. According to the Raleigh Police Department, Mykia Daniel, an eighth-grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh Apartment. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released at the appropriate time.

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a complaint about possible inappropriate contact between a student and teacher.

<b>ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C.</b> — Police confirmed Friday they are looking into a complaint involving possible inappropriate contact between a student and teacher at Roanoke Rapids High School.<br />

Principal Monica Smith-Woffter said the teacher was suspended with pay on Feb. 21 but declined to comment further, saying it was a personnel matter.<br />

No charges have been filed. Further details were not immediately available.
