Raleigh, N.C. — Funeral services for a WRAL pioneer are set for Saturday.
J.D. Lewis' funeral will be held at First Baptist Church in Raleigh at noon. Lewis' career in broadcasting spanned more than four decades.
Lewis, 87, was a community and civic leader and member of numerous boards and organizations. He was also the popular host of "Teenage Frolics", a dance program, which debuted in 1958 on WRAL.
Lewis was recently given the Triangle Urban League's Legend Award.
