    Gingerbread Lady,

You haven't really said anything of significance here. By the way you type and spell, I'd guess that you weren't very highly educated.

Why do people like you fail to discuss the real problems in your own communities, instead you just blame "whitey" or say it's because of poverty. You need to fix the problems in your own communities before blaming anyone else.

Rap music and horrible role models like 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg are just one thing that's harming the black community. In fact rap music and that lifestyle is one of the reasons so many young black males are in prison or dead right now. No doubt about it.

Dr. King would turn over in his grave if he knew what's happened to the black community in America, especially in the inner city.

yep, just cry poverty and misfortune and get away with murder.

Gee, Dog, I misspelled a few myself. Must be the effects of poverty on us.

  • DOG Feb 24, 2007

In my earlier comment, I misspelled STATISTICS. Sorry about that.

Let's put all this to rest. If the information I just pulled up is correct, at the end of 2004 there were 3,218 black males per 100,000 in US prisons. Hispanic 1,220 per 100,000. White 463 per 100,000. Type in 2005 NC Prison Statitics if you want a copy. CALL YOUR NEXT CASE

MLK said, "not by the color of their skin but the context of their character." Guess what? These two have no character. Give them a trial and if convicted give them an appeal. Now if they are found guilty again, now by 24 people, hang them the next day. Some innocent people will hang, but not as many as innocent people being killed by these people.

Fear is the major motivator. These people have no fear. They know that when they get out they will be looked upon as hero's in their neighborhoods. It is sad that it is more credible to go to jail than graduate college.

The problem is society today. Here's an idea. Don't let your kids listen to rap music or play games like GTA. This does nothing but glorify crime and teaches kids to be just like their "idols". My kids go to after school care at a roller skating establishment. Sometimes when I pick them up they are playing music over the loud speakers. Sometimes country, sometimes rap, sometimes top 40. They do a good job of mixing it up, but the days it's rap a lot of these little kids are dancing VERY provocatively. They didn't just start doing it. It is something they have seen on music videos. It starts in the home. Raise your kids to be better than you are even if you are already a doctor or lawyer. Want better for your kids.

A lot of posts have been about race. Yes, a majority of the major crimes in America are committed by young, black, males. The number one being they look up to 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg more than Clarence Thomas and Condoleeza Rice.

Bissette, you are correct. Thousands of people have risen out of poverty to make something of themselves. People need to stop using pverty as an excuse. Sorriness causes actions like this to happen.

poverty doesnt cause someone to commit murder.some people just have the mentality they will take from you and whatever the consequences so be it. i dont care what your background is, if you break my door down you will most likely go out in body bag.

Mr Ripper, you are so right! I will quit my job, leave my wife and kids to go help someone else's child and make a difference! Get real, we help by paying taxes into the system for service that help these people, if they want it.
