2 Indicted for Murder in Raleigh Gang Slaying
Raleigh, N.C. — A Wake County grand jury Monday indicted two men on murder counts in the June 3 drive-by slaying of Jamal Jeffreys on Beauty Avenue.
Michael Jones, 19, and Percy Smith, 30, had been indicted previously, but the grand jury Monday added murder, discharging a weapon toward an occupied dwelling, three counts of felony assault and conspiracy to commit murder.
Jones is accused of being one of the shooters. Smith is accused of being the driver of the lead car. Police have recovered three cars they said were used in the attack.
Altogether, 15 people have been arrested in the incident that Raleigh police have said was gang-related.
Police said Jeffreys and three other men were shot at from several moving vehicles while they were standing outside a house on Beauty Avenue. Jeffreys was pronounced dead at the scene.
