Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Cary police said they have located the "person of interest" they wanted to question in connection to the town's first homicide of the year.

On Thursday, police were called to an Exxon station at

1204 NE Maynard Road

, where they discovered a man's partially decomposed body lying facedown in the woods.

Autopsy results released Friday indicated that the man, who was about 50 years old, died from a blow to the head. Police ruled the man's death a homicide.

On Friday, police also released a composite of a "person of interest" they wanted to question.

Police Capt. Dave Wulff said Saturday that the "person of interest," whose identity has not been released, was interviewed and has been cooperating with authorities. Wulff said the man was not being considered a suspect.

Police said they were still trying to identify the victim and notify the next of kin.
