Man Accused Of Nearly Beating Woman To Death In Cumberland County

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who nearly beat a woman to death in September.

Authorities say the man is targeting prostitutes along an area of Highway 301, Gillespie Street and East Mountain Drive in Fayetteville. His last known victim was nearly beaten to death and was cut along several areas of her body with a switchblade knife.

The perpetrator is described as being a black male between 45 and 55 years of age. He is of medium build, weighing 200 to 250 pounds and is about 6 feet tall. He has black hair and brown eyes.

The assailant may be driving a late 1990s white or black 4-door vehicle with a sunroof. The license tag has a protective green or clear plastic covering on it.
