Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Cancer research gets a multimillion-dollar boost at Duke University Medical Center.

The school received a $10 million gift from the family of Preston Tisch, chairman of the financial company Loews.

Half of the money will fund research into tumor-fighting drugs. The other $5 million will be used to recruit cancer researchers to Duke.

In recognition, Duke's Brain Tumor Center will be renamed in Tisch's honor.
